The Old Man

JDeMaio003It was a little over a year ago.  I had just gone through my third interview with Kelly and the team.  I got the job!  I was coming back to real estate after taking an opportunity outside of the industry for two years.  What could have changed?  I had a successful business as a REALTOR for 11 years and I thought my experiences would be like they were before.  Only one thing had changed, I was the OLD MAN now.

I remember my first day with the Kelly Anne Harris Team and I found myself asking everyone how old they were.   32, 23, 31, 27, etc….  How was this possible?  All the other offices I had worked in, I was one of the younger people.  Now at 44, I was the OLD MAN and even being called “GRANDPA”.  It was all in good fun, of course, but it was still quite an adjustment.

Over this last year, that adjustment became easier and easier.  Although everyone was quite a bit younger than me, I started to observe some wonderful things.  This team’s energy is amazing and it is infectious.  Beyond that, our group has such a positive attitude.  Real estate is a business that has its stresses and difficulties and this team’s energy and attitude can pull you through a bad day.

I love being a part of this team and what we are able to achieve for our clients.  I also love the role that I play within the team.  My experience brings my teammates to me to help them and give advice.  It means the world to me that they respect my knowledge and are comfortable enough to come to me.  The best part is that this goes both ways on our team.  My teammates are always there to help me too.  We all have an open mind and want to learn from each other.  This communication helps us to be better REALTORS.   Our team concept is new to Owensboro but it has so many advantages for our clients.  So if you need help buying or selling a home, give me a call.  Ask for the OLD MAN, I don’t mind anymore.
